Marcus + Kelly | Newborn & Family Session

March 11, 2016

Oh. My. Cute.  I could stare at this little man for days!  But before I introduce you to him,  I must tell you a little about his parents!

I’ve known Kelly forever!  Literally 🙂  She’s one of my “sisters!”  That fact alone makes this session one of my absolute favorites!  It’s also a special session because this was my first newborn boy! 🙂

Marcus just gets to be my friend because he married Kelly!  Ha!  What a lucky guy! 🙂

A couple days after Marcus proposed to Kelly, she came to me and asked me to take Engagement pictures for them!  I said, “….yeah sure!”  but inside I was SO nervous because I had never taken pictures for anyone in my entire life!

That was October of 2011 and the rest is history!

Are you all ready?  I went digging through the archives to find these…. here are a few photos from my very first session!

They were just babies!

No wonder Eli is so cute!   He has cute parents! Haha!

If I were to choose a caption for this next picture, it would be, “Hi!  My name is Eli! Guess what?!  I am NOT going to fall asleep easily!”

If I learned anything from Eli’s session,  it’s that it is VERY important for the room to be extra warm!  We had some slight technical difficulties before Kelly arrived and I’m going to be honest, it was way too cold!  No matter how tightly you wrap a newborn,  they will not fall asleep and stay asleep if the room is too cold!  Lesson Learned!  We did manage to get some with his eyes shut though! We needed to keep his nuk handy and be ready when his eyes closed for a few seconds!

I love these pictures of Eli and his Mommy & Daddy!  He is one loved little boy!

Usually when I do newborn photos,  I prefer the baby to be less less than 10 days old if Mommy is up to leaving the house!  We had originally planned to do Eli’s pictures when he was 7 days old, but because the weather wasn’t super nice and I could feel a head cold coming on we decided to wait!  We don’t want any sick babies!

Eli is 14 days old in the picture on the left (top photo for Mobile Users) and is 24 days old in the picture on the right (bottom photo for Mobile Users.)

What a difference 10 days make!  He was much more alert and he really liked to stretch his legs out so it was hard to keep him wrapped up tight!  It’s true what they say.  They grow up so fast!

I’m actually excited that I have this example for all of you!  If you want your baby to look like a newborn in their pictures,  it’s critical to bring them sometime within the first 2 weeks! It wasn’t working for Marcus & Kelly to come for family photos during Eli’s first 14 days so Kelly and Eli came to see me twice!

If you are expecting a little one and know that you would like me to take your newborn photo’s, head over to the Contact Page and send me a quick email!  That’s one less thing you will need to do when the baby comes, and I will know that I have a newborn session coming up so I’ll be able to plan my days accordingly!  It really more convenient for both of us!  Perfect!

Enjoy your weekend, Friends!
